Malaysia Business Licence Services

Almost every business in Malaysia needs one or more licences to operate legally. We work out exactly which ones you need, prepare and submit the applications, and handle renewals — so you can trade with peace of mind.

Overview

The right licences, without the runaround

A business licence is your company's permit to operate. Trading without the right one can mean fines or closure — but the requirements differ by business type, activity and local council. We make it simple and keep you compliant.

Types of licences

Three kinds of business licence

🏬 General licences

Needed by nearly every business, from your local council (PBT): Business Premise Licence and Signboard Licence — often issued together as a Composite Licence.

🏭 Sector / industry licences

Depend on your trade, from the relevant ministry or agency: F&B, retail, tourism (MOTAC), education (MOE), childcare (JKM), construction (CIDB) and more.

🌏 Activity-specific licences

Triggered by what you do or who owns the business: WRT licence for foreign-owned wholesale/retail (KPDN), import/export, MOF vendor registration, MDEC status and music licences.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need a business licence?
Almost certainly. Nearly every business needs at least a business premise licence and a signboard licence from its local council before operating.
How long does it take?
A composite (premise + signboard) licence usually takes about 1–2 months. Some sector licences take longer.
Must my signboard be in Malay?
Yes. Signboard wording must be in Malay and approved, and the design must meet your local council's rules. We handle the wording and submission.
I'm a foreigner / my company is foreign-owned — anything extra?
Wholesale and retail businesses with foreign ownership usually need a WRT licence from KPDN. We'll advise and arrange it.
Do licences need renewal?
Yes — premise and signboard licences are usually renewed every year. We track the dates and handle renewals for you.

Not sure which licences you need?

Tell us about your business and premises — we'll map out exactly what's required and handle the applications end to end.
